Abstract

Maxillofacial trauma, especially fractures, is a serious health issue with a variety of etiologies and demographic differences. The frequency and patterns of maxillofacial trauma are examined in this study, which was carried out at Royal Prima Hospital Medan from 2021 to 2023. Gender and age group distributions are highlighted. An observational study with a cross-sectional design was conducted using the medical records of 26 patients with maxillofacial trauma. Cross-tabulations were used in the data analysis to investigate correlations between variables, with a focus on fracture types, etiologies, age groups, and gender. Males made up the bulk of cases (69.2%), with the highest incidence seen in the 11–20 age range. Le Fort 1 The most common cause of fractures (38.5%) was traffic accidents, accounting for 61.5% of cases. The study emphasizes that men are more likely than women to suffer from maxillofacial trauma, especially in young adults. Le Fort I Maxillary fractures were common, mostly as a result of auto accidents. These results offer important new information about the distribution and contributing variables of maxillofacial trauma.
